First Nations partners take aim at expansive opportunities for nature-based assets

Regina, Saskatchewan – Building on three years of hosting the Global First Nations Carbon Summit, Carbon RX Inc. (‘Carbon RX’) continues to lead industry dialogue exploring carbon opportunities on indigenous lands. As a follow up to the 2024 summit, Carbon RX invited First Nations leaders from Treaty 4 to this year’s Canadian Western Agribition on the eve of the Indigenous Agriculture Summit to discuss ongoing progress ambitiously focused on driving value for First Nations communities through untapped real-world assets including land, carbon, water, soil and infrastructure.

Carbon RX’s parent company, Nature’s Ledger Inc. (‘Nature’s Ledger’), is advancing how nature-based assets can be owned, financed and traded leveraging blockchain technology for enhanced transparency, tradability and trust – and partnership with First Nations communities are integral to creating mutual value.

“Carbon RX and Nature’s Ledger enabled the first regenerative agriculture credits on blockchain in 2023, and together in partnership with First Nations, there is a desire to place grassland carbon project credits on the blockchain as well,” said Marty Seymour, CEO of Carbon RX. “The potential is vast. We are a full-solution provider to First Nations communities who aspire to
create their own source revenue opportunities from their lands.”

To continue this momentum, Carbon RX is leading the way on knowledge transfer and productive dialogue with First Nations partners, uncovering new and expanded economic opportunities rooted in natural assets. As a collective, these leaders are committed to a deeper exploration of strategies that not only preserve ecological integrity but also unlock sustainable revenue streams for their communities, including:

Advanced grazing practices with cattle and bison to enhance soil health and carbon capture;

Expanding carbon credit generation beyond farmland to ranchlands, forestry, and terrestrial biomass; and

Tokenizing real-world assets like carbon and water for blockchain-based trading.

“Carbon RX has laid important foundations to advance the economic opportunities inherent in better understanding nature-based assets and carbon markets, and we’re just getting started,” added Seymour. “There is no better place than Canada’s largest cattle show to further strengthen our collaboration and advance strategies to deliver novel revenue streams from natural assets.”
